Maple, Two-Drawer, Dovetailed Carcass
This table features a lot of complex joinery. The end table features a fully dove-tailed carcass with live edges, There are two dove-tailed drawers with gnarly beech pulls built into the carcass. The top has live edges on all four sides as the end grain is "bread boarded" with a live-edged board that is attached by a uniquely pegged mortise and tenon joint that allows the top to move independently with seasonal expansion and contraction. The legs are hand-split maple wedges cut to flair outward. This entire piece is made from brown maple I harvested myself in the northern Adirondacks. The tree was dead which helps account for the uniquely characteristic color and grain configurations. The top measures approx, 22" x 23" and the table is 24 1/2 inches in height. This table is emblematic of my style, fine traditional joinery with a rustic flair.
