"Gone Fishing" platform pedestal table - This table is made from highly figured tiger maple that I harvested in the northern Adirondack mountains. The feet are made from cherry burl and the pedestal is a yellow a yellow birch "root stump". The apron is walnut and is banded with tiger maple. The finish on the tiger maple is sprayed on lacquer (12 coats) polished to a glass-like finish. The trout net is hand-made. I laminated ash and walnut strips to form the net opening and the handle is made of tiger maple; the inlayed leaping trout on the handle is walnut. The fly rod is antique and made from bamboo. The flies attached to the handle are an Ausable Wulff and an Ausable Bomber. Both of these patterns were developed by Fran Betters and nationally recognized fly tyer from Ausable Forks, NY. I tied the flies following his patterns. The table top oval measures 25 1/2" x 18 1/2" and the table is 25 1/2" in height (floor to top).
