NEW ITEM! This "Santanoni" was completed this Fall and differs from the original table in that the top is made from spalted maple. The "Santanoni" Coffee Table dispels any idea that the term "rustic elegance" is an oxymoron. This is a new design and is the second I have made using this style. This design uses vertically mounted pieces of yellow birch (stockade style) and spruce twigs as chinking between the logs for the apron. Hence its name, "stick and stockade." The top of this table is made from Adirondack spalted maple. The top is finished with 10 coats of lacquer (sprayed on) and has been sanded and polished through eleven grits of fine emery cloth, giving the top the appearance of viewing it through glass. The pedestal is yellow birch root/stump cut perfectly level, every root contacting the floor precisely even and level. The yellow birch pedestal is adorned with a moose antler drop*. The table top measures 42" long x 22" wide (widest point) and stands 18 1/2" from the floor to the top of the table. It is not very often that a piece comes together in such an aesthetically pleasing and artistic manner; it exceeded my expectations!
*No moose were harmed obtaining this antler. It is a drop (they shed their antlers annually) and was found on the ground.
