This framed beveled glass mirror is made from very rare bird's eye maple harvested in the northern Adirondacks. Bird's eye maple is an extremely rare anomaly that occurs in maple trees. It is estimated that 1 in 100,000 maple boards are bird's eye maple. This mirror is solid bird's eye maple. Most bird's maple logs are milled into veneer as it brings the logger more money and making solid bird's eye maple pieces even rarer. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase 7 boards at a local saw mill (enough for two mirrors}. This mirror features an inlayed moose. The frame is mortised together and pegged with chamfered walnut pegs. The top shelf features dental molding and both the upper and lower shelves feature log supports. Four vintage maple syrup taps dated 1891 are mounted on the sides as well and serve as hooks for hanging things. The beveled glass mirror is 16 inches wide by 24 inches high. The top shelf is 27 1/4 in length and approximately 4 1/2 inches wide. The mirror frame is 23 inches wide and the entire frame is 37 1/4 inches in height. The mirror mounts using a french cleat (provided). This is a very well-made piece of home decor featuring a tasteful and quintessentially Adirondack rustic flair.
