These Shaker divided carriers are made with locally harvested Adirondack cherry. They are made using the same techniques and materials as the 19th century Shakers at Watervliet, NY and New Lebanon, NY. The carrier is held together with small maple pegs and copper tacks used to hold the knife beveled "swallow-tail" fingers in place. These carriers are approximately 13 inches long and 9 inches across; the handle at its highest point is about 4 1/2" high. Finished with several coats of hand-rubbed on oil. Cherry grain pattern will vary from the one shown. Each carrier or box is individually signed, dated and numbered.
