This is one of two matching "Sagamore" timber framed end tables. I would prefer to sell these as a matching pair; however, I will let them go individually. These end tables are made from quarter-sawn white oak. Quarter sawing a log is labor intensive and expensive, but it produces "rays" or flecks in the grain that are very unique. Real mission furniture is made from quarter-sawn white oak. They are handcrafted using traditional New England timber framing techniques (ships knees bracing) and the walnut pegs used in the carcass of the table are left slightly proud of the joint it secures. Each table has 44 walnut-pegged mortised and tenon joints. The tops feature walnut pegged "bread board" ends. The drawers are fully dove-tailed. The tables feature traditional arched braces on the legs extending into the aprons and the legs are further braced with mortised cross bracing with five mortised purlins. This serves a shelf. These end tables are a one of a kind artisan piece, extremely rugged and entirely hand-made in my shop. The tops measure 18 1/2" x 15" - they stand 29 1/2" floor to top and the legs are 2" wide on all sides. A matching coffee table is also available.
